Truth be told, Laoag was not really in my list of places to visit. Though I know it existed but I wasn’t that interested with it. So, imagine my surprised when I arrived at the place. I was totally mesmerized by its beauty.
The city of Laoag, is a first class city and the capital of the province of Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. The municipalities of San Nicolas, Paoay, Sarrat, Vintar and Barraca from its boundaries. According to Wikipedia 😉
Anyhow, we traveled to Laoag via Cebu Pacific airline. We decided to take the plane so save time however we were so disappointed as our flight got delayed for more than three hours. Our estimated time of arrival was supposed to be at 8:20 PM but due to unforeseen circumstances, we arrived in Laoag at past 10:00 PM instead.
From the airport, we took a twenty minute or so tricycle ride going to the city. While cruising along the dark and quiet highway, a rush of old memories came to my mind. It felt like going home in our province :-). The smell and feel of the fresh air. The solemnity of the surrounding except for the occasional sound of the night insects. The clarity of the night sky.
Before I could completely immerse myself in my childhood memories, my stomach reminded me that we still didn’t have our dinner :D. Thankfully though Mcdonald’s was just a walking distance away from our hotel, Laoag Renzo Hotel.
Walking along the street of Laoag at past 11:00 PM seems pretty much safe. Well, we went to Mcdonald’s and came back to the hotel unharmed so that certainly qualifies as safe for me 😀
The next day, we had our breakfast. Nothing fancy just the usual meal of eggs, tocinos, garlic rice and so much more. We filled our stomach full so we’ll have enough energy for our adventure.
And so we started our adventure…
Below are few of the snaps I took of the places we visited. Since we only have a few hours to spare for this trip as we need to catch the bus going to Vigan, so we had no other choice but to select the tourist attractions we wanted to see. Nonetheless, we’re glad we have chosen to visit these places as they were indeed worth our time.
